STORYTELLING

An inspiring moment from our project was to hear Hot Bread Kitchen’s small business alumni talk about their growth trajectory and how far they have come since they got their start in our kitchens. One alumna, Pabade Bakery, is serving as a member of the Small Business Advisory Group for this project.

  • Pabade Bakery got their start in 2016 at Hot Bread Kitchen's incubator in La Marqueta. Since then, in 2019, they have opened and sustained Pabade Cafe in East Harlem, and in 2023, they opened up a new location in Union City in New Jersey.

  • At the same time, they distribute their product to 26 different bakeries across Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan

  • They have shared their continued needs with us. They are poised for growth, and a perfect advisor for this project to create a roadmap for women-of-color-owned small food businesses to scale.
